FAQs/Help

How do I make a reservation at Lock 30 Woodlands?

Depending on how you are camping--in a tent, an RV or in a rental--you may want to check out the sections on this website that correspond with your needs. Tenting Too, RV Having Fun Yet?, RV's, Luxury Cabins and More.
Find information regarding rates, mid week camping specials and hints for camping fun.

You can contact us by clicking on  Making A Reservation.  Or you can call us on our toll free reservation line at 1-87-RV-LOCK-30. (1-877-856-2530)

Is it essential that I make a reservation?

No. You are welcome to drop in at any time and camp in available sites, but reservations are strongly recommended if you are camping Thursday through Sunday, May through September. Off peak times (October through April) are not as busy, but for your own convenience, you may want to call to give us an estimated time when you expect to arrive. We're on site, but we're likely doing maintenance outside the gatehouse anywhere on our 65 acre forested property.

Can I reserve a specific time for a specific site?  How about "winters" or non peak times, when I may have a need to visit or work in the tri-state area?

Yes, you may reserve a specific site. But depending on the time of year and especially for holiday reservations, you may be asked to pay one nights stay in advance.  We make every attempt to give you the specific site you have requested, but occasionally there are circumstances that require us to place you in an equally desirable location. If you expect to camp for extended periods, off peak season, go to question #10 for more information about how to use this web site to get information addressing these special camping circumstances.

What if I have never camped at Lock 30? Can I have the site of my choice?

Let us know you are a "first timer". Over 90% of our campers are "returns" and are familiar with the campground lay out and design. If you have never camped with us, upon arrival we can arrange to show you all available sites and have you select the one you prefer. Keep in mind, however, that others may be reserving up to a year in advance.  Check out the map by clicking Campground Map.

If I am camping with friends, can we be placed together?

Yes. We'll do everything we can to give you sites, side-by-side. Be sure you give complete information--(full names and spellings of both parties, estimated time of arrival, sizes of RV) etc.--so that we can select an area that meets both of your needs.

If I hold a site for friends, can they pay their fees upon registration?

Yes. You may use your credit card to hold their site, but you are responsible for relaying all information regarding registration, including policies of cancellation. Or you can have them call us and we'll inform them about metered electric, pet policies, check-in times, costs, etc.

I am part of a large group that camps together every chance we get. Can you accomodate us?

Depending on when you camp and how far ahead you make reservations, chances are we can. We are very popular with groups, because even though we have few sites on our 65 acres, most of our sites can accomodate any size RV on the road. Hence, groups tend to return year after year. We suggest you look at our non-peak camping times, especially if your group has special needs. See the section Rvs, Luxury Cabins & More.

Will I be charged for a site if I need to cancel my reservation?

Not if you re-book at the time you call to let us know you must cancel or if you do it far enough in advance that can accomodate the change of plans. We turn away more campers than we accomodate, so we can no longer excuse campers who fail to show or callers making reservations with no solid intentions of following through. See Planning Your Trip, Cancellation Policy .

Do you restrict certain breeds or size dogs at your campground?

No. All do are welcome, but we will restrict dog owners who do not pay gsattention to their pets or our rules. If you are camping with your dog (s), you will be asked to keep your pet either contained or in direct line of site at all times and to clean up after him. (This does not mean chaining him to a tree at your site while you are at the pool.) Some pets are comfortable being left for short periods of time inside an air conditioned RV with water and food. Other dogs do not tolerate the absence of owner attention and become noisy and protective. You decide. Is your dog a good camper? See Dog Gone Friendly for all guidelines and information about camping with dogs.  We want your camping memories to magic, not tragic.

Why are there so few "seasonal sites" for long term or extended stay camping?  How can I get a site for my family to use every weekend, all summer long?

We limit the number of seasonal sites because we are very select accepting seasonal or extended stay campers. They willingly adhere to strict site care standards and regulations regarding the use of golf cars, visitor access to their sites and ages and conditions of their RVs. We do not automatically renew leases year after year. If you are interestedin becoming a seasonal camper you must complete an application that requires references. Please accept that we do not keep a waiting list. Sites do open every year, but they are in high demand and tend to fill quickly. Ask to see a lease, and our Seasonal Camping Guidelines. Visit the campground and talk with seasonal families. If we are the right match for you, we will do all we can to make a site available for your family.  Check out the section Extended Stay Camping, Seasonal Sites for more information.

I am working in one of the nuclear power plants for several weeks next winter.  How can I get a RV site that is full hook up, with water, sewer and electric?

We have limited numer of sites set aside for this purpose. Additionally, we may have a rental opportunity for your convenience. Ask. Clubhouse restrooms, showers and laundry facilities are heated. A carpeted gameroom with foosball, pool table, coin games and book exchange is open year round. Go to Extended Stay Camping to answer your questions.
